Analysing Previous student work
Ellie Goulding video:
-This video is targeted towards a young audience and the genre of the music video is pop, in temrs of media language there is evidence of jump cuts, slow motion and a lot of looking directly into the camera. in evidence of Laura Mulveys representation theory there is no actual sexual representation that neither pictures males in a superior category or objectifies women.
Dubstep Video:
-Again this video is aimed towards young adults and is amongst the dubstep genre. There is an interesting narrative structure as the performer acts as the narrator telling a story in isolation. During the video there is a lot of slow/fast motion, looking directly into the camera and many jump cuts, In relation to Laura Mulveys representation theory and the attraction of the male gaze specifically she is not trying to appeal to men there is no male gaze being drawn and she has not been pictured inferior.
Florence and the machine video:
-This video appeals to again a much younger audience where the performer acts as the narrator. there is key evidence of jump cuts and slow motion and she is pictured at a low angle to highlight being inferior to the active male.
