Use of costume and use of setting and location
Taylor swift - I knew you were trouble (Pop) :
Throughout the video there are roughly 8 costume changes of casual wear and in relation to the verse-chorus-verse structure it does not change according to it. Base tracks and locations change variously throughout the video and never change according to the structure. The costumes don't link very well to the setting and location as it is sort of a disjunctured music video. The lyrics however do go along with the casual clothing worn as the lyrics touch upon subjects that normal civilians and audiences go through therefore the performer/artist wears casual clothing. The clothing she has worn is actually very typical for the generical conventions of Pop music videos.
In terms of use of setting and location the video changes location several times from the tattoo parlour to the highway, the setting does not in any way link to her clothing however at times it does for example during the scene were she is in a vehicle she wears casual clothes not extravagant costume. There are no well known locations or spots used and her choice of setting and location are typical for the genre of Pop.
Neyo, David Guetta and Akon - Play Hard (R&B) :
In this video none of the artists or performers had changed their costume a single time and the costumes did not link to the verse-chorus-verse structure of the video as it remained same throughout the video. The dancers were wearing cowboy clothing whilst dancing and performing in a bull fighting arena. In terms of costume this music video does not agree with the generical conventions of R&B music videos.
Throughout the music video there are 5 different locations, the costumes of the dancers are that of western cowboys and this bodes very well with the videos many locations. Although there are no well known locations used the disjunctured music video. This music video challenges the ggeneric conventions of R&B music videos through both costume aswell as location and setting.
Mumford and Sons - I will wait (indie) :
This video is not at all different from any other indie music videos in fact it is actually very typical. There are no costume changes no structure at all, the whole music video is a series of jump cuts in one setting and location with the performers literally performing for a large crowd who both wear casual clothing.
