Laura Mulvey's theory on music videos is that woman are seen to be submissive to males and that males often play the dominant role in music video. She explains how women are often shown in an explicit way, acting very provocative for the male's attention. This is shown massively through costume and camera work. For example many females in RnB videos tend to wear tight clothes which don't cover much of their bodies. The camera also tends to focus on certain parts of their body, or film them at an angle which is more vulnerable than they would when filming a male. Very recent examples of this are the Blurred Lines video by Robin Thicke & Wrecking Ball by Miley Cyrus.
