ANCILLARY RESEARCH: Researching Digipaks

In order to create the perfect digipak for Karma, I thought it would be a good idea to do some research on digipaks and the advertisement of an artist. Digipaks typically consist of a gate fold (book-styled) paperboard or card stock outer binding, with one or more plastic trays capable of holding a CD or DVD attached to the inside.

How would a digipak benefit the artist on it?

A digipak's purpose is to promote the artist and sell an image that they want people to know them for. Usually, a digipak will have a certain theme that may link to one of the artist's music videos. This is because it becomes more memorable for the fans and will make not only that specific video more popular, but will make the entire album popular. Digipaks also help the artist to establish a brand image that could get them to possibly gain more fans and sell more albums.
